Donald Driver Serves as Honorary Chair for 18th Annual Adoption Gala
Donald Driver was in Milwaukee on Thursday, November 14th in support of The Coalition for Children, Youth, and Families. Donald made a personal appearance at the group’s 18th Annual Adoption Celebration: Shelter from the Storm as this year’s honorary chair.
The Coalition for Children, Youth and Families is an umbrella over foster care and adoption in the state of Wisconsin, providing information and referral at every stage of the process, recruiting homes for children in need an offering support to foster and adoptive families and the professionals who support them. Since The Coalition’s operations in 1984, they have facilitated more than 2,000 adoptions and hundreds of foster home placements through our services.
On Thursday, Donald met with Gala attendees and shared his story of overcoming obstacles and the importance of offering a helping hand to those in need. Driver overcame homelessness as a child and became one of the most community-minded athletes of his generation. Donald and his wife Betina founded the Donald Driver Foundation in 2001 – the foundation focuses on underprivileged children and families, health, wellness and safety along with education and career development.
