A Letter to my Younger Self
It’s me, well I mean I’m you, what I am trying to say is that we are one in the same. I am you 42 years from now, I am writing you this letter to encourage you. I am penning this letter to you to inform you that things may seem hard now, but hold on, hang in there, there is light at the end of this tunnel we call life. I know this may seem strange or even weird right now, but after you read this letter I hope it makes since. We are going to have some challenging years to come. There’s going to come a time when, it seems that you are raising yourself. Parents are no longer together, dad is nowhere around, mom is working late nights to make ends meet, while all the while you’re trying to figure out who Donald Driver is. You’re not going to have the best of things and you’re going to wonder why others have and you do not. Therefore selling drugs and stealing cars will become an avenue of obtaining that which you feel, you have been neglected. Jordan’s , Polo shirts, and designer jeans is what your rocking now. No more pro wing shoes and imitation fashionable clothing for you. It will seem as if you are on top of the world.
And you ask yourself? WHY? did it take so long to get here. I wouldn’t get used to it though, I am sad to say that it all comes to an end. Death almost finds your address and you almost go to jail for playing Robin Hood… only thing you were not robbing from the rich and giving to poor. It was your reality, yes we are the less fortunate. You are going to learn how to use what you are going through, to full your desire to become something great… Your present situation will become the hand that pushes you to that next level… It will help you graduate from Milby High School and obtain a full ride to Alcorn State University in Mississippi to play football…
Life as we knew it was about to take a turn for the better. We graduate with a Bachelor Degree in Accounting, married a Beautiful women, and have three outstanding and amazing children. Oh, less I forget we get drafted by the Green Bay Packers and become the leading receiver in Franchise history and one of the Best Receiver to ever play in the game. We are a Four time pro-bowler, Dancing with the Stars champion, Super Bowl champion, New York Times Best Selling Author, and praying to one day become a NFL Hall of Famer… All because we did not let our past dictate our future. Our life isn’t about waiting for the storm to past, but yet learning how to dance in the rain.
Life will be like a camera,
You will Focus on the importance,
Capture all the memories,
Develop from all Negatives,
And when you feel things don’t work out.
YOU WILL TAKE ANOTHER SHOT………….
Be encouraged, this is from me to me. I LOVE YOU!!!!!!
